Days are worked out from New Delhi's sunrise and sunset. Tithi times are the same across India, but in another city a festival can occasionally fall a day earlier or later.

ℹ️ How is the day decided?

Each festival falls on a tithi of a lunar month (months named the Purnimanta way). A tithi doesn't change at sunrise, so the Dharmasindhu and Nirnayasindhu rules say in which part of the day the tithi must prevail — pradosh kaal for Diwali and Dhanteras, madhyahna for Ganesh Chaturthi and Ram Navami, aparahna for Dussehra and Bhai Dooj, nishita kaal for Maha Shivratri and Sharad Purnima, moonrise for Karwa Chauth, and the tithi at sunrise for the rest. The festival is on the day the tithi covers more of that period. Adhik (extra) months are skipped.

Holika Dahan, Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami are not listed, because their day also depends on Bhadra or the Rohini nakshatra. Ekadashi, Purnima, Amavasya and Pradosh tithis are on a separate page.
